About our programs

What programs does DYES offer?

We currently run two weekly recreational programs: Dixon FC soccer on Mondays and Dixon Basketball on Wednesdays. We also plan to add homework help, girls’ activities, mentorship and family events as we grow. Those are future plans and aren’t open for registration yet.

What ages can join?

Soccer is for age groups U7 to U15. Basketball is for age groups U10 to U15. We place children in age groups using their date of birth. Exact age groups will be confirmed soon.

When and where are sessions?

Dixon FC soccer runs on Mondays at Kipling Collegiate Institute: Session 1 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm and Session 2 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm, for different age groups. Each group has 20 spaces per session.

Dixon Basketball runs on Wednesdays at Kipling Collegiate Institute, in the smaller gym, with the same times: 6:30 to 7:30 pm and 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Each group has 20 spaces per session.

Does my child need experience?

No. Our programs are recreational and welcome beginners. Tell us about your child’s experience on the form so we can support them.

Can my child do both soccer and basketball?

Yes. Choose “Both” on the registration form, as long as your child is in the age range for each program and spaces are available.

Registration

Registration, fees and waitlists

How do I register?

Complete the DYES Youth Registration form online. It works on phones and takes about 10 minutes. Prefer paper? Email dixonfc2010@gmail.com for the PDF form, and send it back to the same address.

How much does it cost?

The registration fee is $300 per child for the October to June season, whether they take part in soccer, basketball or both. Summer is free. We’ll share payment details when we confirm your child’s spot.

What if paying is difficult for my family?

Please reach out. You can tick the box on the registration form or contact us directly to talk confidentially about payment arrangements or financial assistance.

What happens if a program is full?

Each program and age group has limited spaces. If your child’s group is full, they’ll go on the waitlist for that activity, and we’ll contact you when a spot opens.

What should my child bring?
  • A full water bottle
  • Comfortable sports clothes and running shoes
  • For soccer: shin guards, and cleats for grass
  • Any medication your child needs, such as an inhaler or EpiPen, with coaches told in advance
Families

Communication and involvement

Why do you need emergency contacts and health information?

So our coaches and volunteers can keep your child safe and act quickly in an emergency. Please tell us if anything changes.

Will photos of my child be posted online?

Only with your permission. The registration form asks whether DYES may use photos or videos of your child, and you can say no. You can change your answer at any time by contacting us.

Can I speak to someone in my language?

Tell us your preferred language on the registration form and we’ll do our best to connect you with someone who speaks it.

How can parents help?

Parents help in lots of ways, from game-day support to helping at community events. See Get involved.

Safety

Keeping everyone safe

Safety comes first in every DYES program and activity.

Concussion safety (Rowan’s Law)

Ontario’s Rowan’s Law sets concussion safety rules for amateur sport. It includes concussion awareness for players, parents and coaches, a concussion code of conduct, and steps for removing a player from sport when a concussion is suspected and for returning safely.

If your child shows signs of a concussion in soccer or basketball, they won’t return to play until it’s safe to do so.
